About Us
The library is run by local mums Katie and Laura who provide mum to mum sling advice and support. They have one or two sessions a month at Katie’s Stamford home, where tea and cake are a welcome addition, one a month in Peterborough at Calmababy and a new addition of a monthly meet at Fineshade Woods, where as well as hiring from the library, there are also sling walks when the weather allows. At these sessions Katie and Laura help parents to find a sling that suits their preferences and needs, and loan them out for a small fee so that parents can try before they buy. Parents are also welcome along for help with their own slings or just to meet with other local mums and dads.

Katie Wilkins - Sling library owner and trainee consultant
Katie set up the Sling Library along with local mum Lucinda from Mummy Nature back in 2013 and continues to run the library, now alongside Laura. Katie's own Sling journey started when her eldest daughter Annabel was born in 2011. She purchased a stretchy wrap out of a desire to keep her little one close, but found it was much more of a necessity with a baby who didn't like to be put down! Fast forward two years, many sling purchases, and loans to lots of friends, Katie realised the only way to justify having so many slings was to loan them out on a larger scale! Katie has a second daughter, Ada who was born in 2013. In the same year she started Crafty Little Slings where she sews half buckles and ring slings. Katie is currently completing her Babywearing Consultancy qualification, which we are expecting will be completed late 2016.

Laura Blowers - Sling library owner and trainee consultant
Laura's sling journey started with her eldest born in 2009. It became an even more important factor of her parenting with her second child, with kangaroo care factoring when he was born 8 weeks premature. Laura now has four children, and her love of slings, and indeed her sling collection, has grown along with her family! Early 2016 Laura joined the team in running the Stamford and Peterborough Sling library and has played a vital role in its growth ever since. Laura is currently completing her Babywearing Consultancy qualification, which we are expecting will be completed late 2016.

Charlotte Smith - Sling library helper
My first babywearing experience started with a visit to see Katie at the Sling Library as I wanted to try a versatile wrap that could grow with my then 6 month old. I hired a Pfau Didymos wrap and fell in love with it so I purchased my own! I now have another beautiful baby girl and have fallen in love with babywearing all over again. The Sling Library allows you to find many different slings to find one that suits you, this is the fun part! I am now really enjoying helping out at the sling library sessions and loving the social meets. |
Heti Ball - Sling library helper
Heti started baby wearing her first child after her mother in law suggested a sling in the early days as a practical way to get things done whilst also being able to keep the physical bond growing. She started with a carrier from a high street shop and was soon introduced to the wider world of slings. This in turn got her partner wearing and he has his very own stash for carrying their, now two, children. Slings are now very much a routine thing in their lifestyle both as a tool to keep them close and an easy way to get about. |
